What I Wore: Plaid and Boots

I'm back with another outfit post!!  At the beginning of December, we attended the Festival of Trees.  It is this fun little event with big, beautiful Christmas trees that are dripping with ornaments and ribbons and sparkles.  Each tree is done by theme or color scheme, so it is a lot of fun to see what people come up with.  They also have a section of little decorated trees and decorated wreaths as well.

I chose to be super comfortable and practical for all the walking around we would be doing.  Wearing my new plaid shirt from Torrid and my newly acquired Avenue boots was top on my priority list.  I bought the plaid shirt in a 4 and it fits really well.  I maybe could have sized down, but I doubt it would fit my hips then.  I wanted the option of buttoning it all the way or having it open, so I went with the bigger size.  You can't really see the tank underneath, but it was a dark purple with sequins that matched the purple of the plaid very well.

The boots are super comfortable.  I have been on the lookout for brown boots this year and jumped at these riding style boots when Avenue had a big sale.  I wear an 11 and, with the stretch panel in the back, they fit my 21-inch calves very well.  I wish I bought them in black too!  Most of the boots are on clearance now, so I encourage you to go check out the website!

Here's an accessory shot with my giant bag.  When walking around the convention center, I have to use a crossbody bag so I don't hassle with my shoulder bag. lol This particular bag is also large enough to hold the kitchen sink, so I can shove any paper goods or things we buy at the event into the bag without carrying around multiple things.

Do you have a favorite casual event outfit?  Something you might wear to a convention to make life easier?  Let me in on your secrets!
