What I Wore: Crafty Wonderland Fun!

Time for the final installment of my birthday weekend fun!  On Saturday, we headed out to Crafty Wonderland in Portland, OR to browse the booths and look for treasures.  The big Crafty Wonderland sales take place twice a year and I just love them.  The booths are filled with all kinds of hand-made goods and unique items.  It includes everything from clothing and artwork to hair accessories, decor, purses, jewelry, and more.  I call it "Etsy in person".

I went with the three Cs for my outfit - comfy, casual, and colorful!  The denim capris are soft with some stretch to them.  They fit me more like a straight leg or slight skinny jean.  The wash is a little bit lighter and they have some embellishment on the back pockets (aka "Sparkle Butt Capris").  So far, they haven't stretched out much during wear.

Sean gave me the headband as an early birthday present the night before in case I wanted to wear it instead of my tiara.  (I usually wear my tiara out for my birthday, but I know some people can't handle a grown woman in a tiara who isn't getting married or winning a pageant lol)  It added a significant amount of sparkle to my head, which I love!  This day was also the maiden voyage of my first Coach purse!  I actually haven't switched purses since then.  I love the bright, cheery color!

I found these goodies at Crafty Wonderland.  You should know already that I love chihuahuas and this brooch reminded me of Miss P.  Chubby puppies and dancing woodland creatures for the win!!

Once we got home from the crafty fun time, I had to freshen up and start up the food for my birthday party.  We welcomed friends, chatted, ate, played some karaoke, and had lots of laughs.

  1. Some people can go fuck themselves, heh. Cute as always. I have some pink sandals, and I'm always amazed at how much they match...especially since I don't really own that many pink clothes. I also ordered one of those camis from Torrid finally - in the black & white animal print. I am considering bringing the obnoxious and wearing it with my chevron pencil skirt and a bright red cardigan...

  2. Ooooh, pattern mixing! I want to see that! I ended up ordering the pink cheetah print one that just came out. I also want the black and white and the olive stripe, but I had to make a decision. lol
I am actually surprised how much the pink sandals go with too. I am glad I bought them, but they were a frivolous purchase because I loved the color so much. Thankfully, they do go with many things. :-) Yay!
I know I shouldn't care if people hate my tiara or not, and sometimes I don't. But after dealing with the cranky people commenting on my skirt and this friend of a friend who was fat shaming me and being a punk yesterday, I was just in a weird head-space.

    I hate when that happens.

Hello! It's been a long time! We moved, my routine was thrown off, and I stopped reading my blogs (let alone writing in my own...)

Anyways, I brought my darling guy-pal a tiara for his 20th birthday. He wore it proudly, and has worn it out every year since. He's 27 now. If he can rock it, you can rock it! I get it though because I have similar self-conscious moments with my huge flowered headbands.

Next, Plenty is an amazing cookbook. I bought it for a vegetarian girlfriend and tested a couple of the recipes out before giving it to her. The caramelized fennel app is delicious with goat cheese and toasted crostini. But that mushroom, crouton, herb dish? So time consuming and involved with so many ingredients...but it is so, so yummy!

And lastly, I've noticed you sporting that shrug in several recent posts. I'm almost tempted to buy one myself because it appears to hang well. I never buy shrugs despite wanting them because as soon as I pull them over my chest, the fabric pulls back into my armpits. Is this shrug any better for that?

  4. Well hello stranger!! I've been wondering how you were doing!

I have worn my tiara out all day before and I thoroughly enjoy it. I guess I was just feeling a bit insecure this year. NEXT year, I will make no excuses and totally wear it all day long :-)

I cannot wait to try recipes from that book. We haven't been proper grocery shopping recently, so I still haven't had a chance to choose a couple first recipes. So excited though! I think that fennel app will be my first because we should be having the mom-in-law over for dinner soon. :-)

I absolutely love this shrug. As you have noticed, I have been wearing it a lot lately. This one is a 3X and I bought a red one in a 4X because I felt this one was a little bit short. The larger one fits well too but is a tad loose. I feel like I have to adjust it more because it is bigger and moves around on me more. So I would suggest sizing down. I don't really have any issues with readjusting them or them falling away. I think it may have to do with the ruffle edge going all the way around. It is wide and it tends to lay nicely around the neck and on the chest. And the material is the stretchy smooth material. I have had issues with ones I got from Lane Bryant in the sweater-like material because they would stretch out as you wore them and then roll around the edges and never stay put.

Often SWAK will have a sale or clearance section so check those. They switch colors around too. I should have some posts coming up with me in the 4x one (it is red), so you can compare what those look like as well.
