What I Wore: Sunny Sparkles

We are finally having some summery weather here in the PNW.  It started last week with some days of beautiful sun and has carried over into this week.  I certainly hope it continues!! *knock on wood*

This outfit is pretty simple.  I wanted bright summery color, sparkle, and to wear my as-yet-unworn sandals.  The evenings have been quite chilly, so jeans were more functional.  Basically, I desired to dress up my go to jeans and hoodie for those days when I am getting ready in a hurry.

I love wearing bright colors!  It makes me feel so much happier, and in turn, I hope that makes others happy.  We went out to visit my father-in-law in the hospital.  He is currently going through another round of chemo for leukemia.  He's doing pretty good thus far and we certainly love when he is laughing.  :-)

How do you jazz up a casual go-to outfit?

  3. I say the same thing about our weather. I guess it was nice most of yesterday though. Today, gloomy and most of last week overcast and raining. Oy vey!

I was planning on wearing something warmer, but it's been pouring buckets here all day. Wasn't it supposed to be summer? ;)

  6. Oh my! Still getting used to this comment system and did not get a notification that you left a comment. Sorry for the delay.
GREAT idea using the scarf as a cummberbund. I'll have to think about trying that for a future outfit. I have a ton of scarves too and definitely don't use them enough. I agree they can really help pull a casual outfit together.

  7. With 6 posts on the blog in 2 months, I think it's pretty obvious how I dress up jeans: swap sneakers for heels or dressy flats, lots of accessories, and layers :) I'm going to have a post dedicated purely to ultra casual coming up soon, too.

I think you look great in vibrant colors, and yes seeing the outfit would make me smile if I was having a bad day. Bright colors don't look good on me, but I love to see them pulled off by others. Very cheerful :)

  8. I'm a big fan of scarves -- I have a ton of them that I've collected over the years. You can throw one on with jeans and a t-shirt and it makes you look much more put together. Since it's hot here about 6 months out of the year, things like cardigans and hoodies and even jeans are just too much, so I wear a lot of knit dresses in the summer. Since I have a long torso, most dresses have an empire waist on me, whether or not they're supposed to. So sometimes, I'll use a long scarf (Old Navy's jersey knit ones work really well for this) as a cummerbund...put the top edge of the scarf where the waistband of the dress is and the bottom edge right at my natural waist. The scarves are just wide enough for some strategic ruching that covers up the muffin top :)
